OIls On Watercolour Paper

This is my first experiment using water based oils, on watercolour paper - I've used acrylics on this medium before, but I'm pleasantly surprised at how well the oil paints worked on the paper.
I don't know why but I do relish the times when I can work on paper ... more so than canvasses.

Just finished this cat portrait. Her names Robyn and she really is a lazy cat - draping herself over the furniture.

Doggie Days

Due to an injury to my shoulder, planned projects have been put on hold -
As I had some good reference material of dogs,  just waiting in the wings ... I decided to do some small doggie pics.

Happy New Year to you all !
The last of the yellow flowering rose, from our garden - painted before Christmas.
Oil on board - after the underlying colours were layed down with a brush ... I used a palette knife for the stem, leaf and petals.

'Figs'

Just framed this latest painting of figs - I just love the colours in figs and that satin sheen they have ... makes them look very tempting!
We used a plain wood bespoke frame, with a coat of liming wax, which gives it a pale white washed appearance, while retaining the grain of the wood.

Looking At The World In Black & White

I've had sticks of charcoal lying around in drawers for ...  well years!
Occasionally I've got them out and dabbled - but last week I felt the need to express my self, or rather my feelings/emotions toward this scene, in black and white.  So it seemed an opportune moment to delve into that box of silky smooth carbon and produced this!

Sugar Bowl

Another oil on board, framed and for sale.
This was a portion of a larger painting - I wasn't happy with the overall look and as the sugar bowl was the main subject of the painting ... I trimmed the edges down and re-framed the painting with a double mount.
